Wamalwa reveals details of meeting with Kalonzo at Uhuru’s Ichaweri home

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa disclosed details of a recent meeting with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta at Uhuru's Ichaweri home. During a ceremony marking the 23rd anniversary of the late Vice President Wamalwa Kijana in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, Wamalwa explained that the meeting focused on the launch of a book the family had been working on for 23 years, titled My Country First.

Uhuru officially launched the book at the event, though Wamalwa revealed that he had initially requested Uhuru to write the foreword but later learned that Uhuru was still in the United States. To ensure the authenticity of the book, Wamalwa approached Kalonzo to act as a witness and accompany him to Ichaweri for the signing. Following Uhuru's return from the U.S., Wamalwa chose Kalonzo for the witnessing role, stating that he wanted to avoid any doubts about the book's authenticity.

The meeting has sparked speculation, but Wamalwa's revelation marks a significant deviation from previous commemorations, which saw fewer high-level attendees. Uhuru's presence at the event was marked by laying a wreath at Wamalwa Kijana's grave and showing respect during the ceremony. The former Defense Cabinet Secretary also highlighted that this year's commemoration is unique due to the book launch, which took place after more than two decades of completion.
