Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) troops carried out separate operations in Benue State on August 19, 2026. The first operation targeted a suspected bandit and his associates operating an illegal kidnapping checkpoint along the Jortar–Atume axis in Ukum Local Government Area. During a firefight, one of the bandits, known as "Cool Nigga," was killed.
