Thane Crime: Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests Bhiwandi Police Constable For Accepting ₹30,000 Bribe From Scrap Dealer

Bhiwandi, August 22, 2026: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Bhiwandi police constable Rajendra Pawar for accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a scrap dealer, according to the ACB. The arrest took place at the Karivali police outpost. Pawar, a 46-year-old police constable assigned to the Bhoiwada Police Station, allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 from the scrap dealer, promising that his business would operate without police interference.

The complainant, a scrap dealer with a business in the area, refused to pay the bribe and reported the incident to the Mumbai ACB office on August 19. The ACB conducted a verification on August 20, during which Pawar allegedly agreed to reduce the demanded amount to Rs 30,000. Based on this, the ACB laid a trap and caught Pawar accepting the bribe at the Karivali police outpost.

The ACB has registered a case against Pawar under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is conducting further legal proceedings in the case. They are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand and any potential involvement of other individuals.
