Solehah akan cabar pemecatan oleh UIAM

UIAM has announced that Solehah Yaacob, a professor previously associated with their institution, has been dismissed and is no longer a professor at the Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM). Solehah intends to challenge her dismissal, alleging that UIAM's actions were unprofessional. She claims she was dismissed within 24 hours and denied the opportunity to appeal, stating that UIAM offered her a combined six months' salary but rejected it.

On the same day Solehah was dismissed, UIAM stated she was no longer a professor, effective April 27. UIAM also emphasized that Solehah was barred from using any titles or positions associated with the university or claiming any connection to it. Solehah asserts that UIAM displayed unprofessionalism in terminating her employment, especially after she received the Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA) award from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) the day before.

The MyRA assessment, established in 2006, is used to evaluate the research performance of universities across the country. Solehah has become a focal point due to several controversial statements she made about Malay history and civilization, including claims that Romans learned shipbuilding from Malays and that iron smelting in Malaysia was possible due to meteor showers.
