Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda regrets Sajjan Kumar remarks, says words were twisted

Rohtak Congress MP Deepender Hooda has expressed regret over his comments made in response to the death of Sajjan Kumar, a convict from the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Hooda expressed remorse for being misquoted and accused the BJP’s IT cell of twisting his words to discredit him. He clarified that he never referred to Sajjan Kumar as a 'role model' and intended no hurt to the Sikh community, stating that his intention was never to hurt anyone's heart.

Hooda emphasized the pride he takes in the Sikh community, which has made immense sacrifices for the nation, including his great-grandfather's imprisonment during the 'Pagri Sambhal Jatta' movement in Punjab. He reiterated the community's unity in every struggle, including the farmers' movement, and affirmed their continued support for the Sikh community's fight for justice.

The controversy began when Hooda's condolences for Sajjan Kumar's death sparked backlash, with former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi referring to Hooda's remarks as unjustifiable.
