The Reizei family, the leading waka poetry lineage tracing its origins to Fujiwara no Shunzei and Teika, poets of the Heian period (794-late 12th century) to the Kamakura period (late 12th century to 1333), held a traditional court ritual ceremony in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, on Saturday to mark Tanabata festival on the lunar calendar.
