Proposal to make Muvattupuzha a district will be considered, says Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan of Keralam has announced that the proposal to establish Muvattupuzha as a separate district will be thoroughly examined by the government. This decision was made after the inauguration of 'Triveni', the Onam celebrations organized by the Muvattupuzha municipality. Although the Chief Minister expressed a sense of sadness regarding Muvattupuzha being separated from its home district, Ernakulam, he assured that the Delimitation Commission would consider the matter and find a solution to address all concerns of the people living in Muvattupuzha.

Despite the challenges, the government has maintained its commitment to Onam celebrations, with all outstanding dues being disbursed and necessary funds provided to those who have been waiting for months for payments or settlement of arrears. To ensure a smooth Onam fair, the government has taken steps to stock 13 essential commodities at subsidised rates.

This initiative has averted any price increase in the market, as everything was meticulously planned two months in advance. Satheesan revealed that goods are being made available at lower prices, resulting in record sales during the festival.

Onam, being an agrarian festival, transcends barriers of caste, religion, ethnicity, and colour, making it a significant celebration for all communities. During the event, Muvattupuzha MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan presided over the proceedings, while the keynote address was delivered by Dean Kuriakose from the constituency.
