Post-mortem shows 11-year-old tahfiz participant found in Lenggeng pond died from drowning, police say no signs of abuse

On August 23, an 11-year-old boy participating in a Quran memorisation program at a foundation centre in Lenggeng was found in a nearby pond, resulting in his drowning, according to police. Superintendent Johari Yahya of Nilai district police confirmed the cause of death as drowning, stating that the post-mortem examination, conducted at the Forensic Department of Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar, found no signs of abuse or injuries.

The child had been reported missing at 12:28 AM on the same day, prompting a search operation by the police in collaboration with other agencies. Despite being found in a weakened state, the boy was resuscitated and subsequently underwent further medical examination. He was pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Lenggeng Health Clinic after the conclusion of the lengthy post-mortem examination.
