Police search for missing man in High Country

An 85-year-old man, identified as John, is currently missing from Harrietville in Victoria's High Country. John was last seen leaving the local pub around 10pm on Sunday night, shortly after arriving with his wife at the establishment. The couple are known to follow a routine where the wife walks 200 meters to their home while John drives.

John's Toyota Land Cruiser, registered WBD-077, remains missing alongside him. His wife returned home without her husband and the car. Authorities are deeply concerned for John's welfare as he typically does not venture far from home on his own and was expected to return directly to their residence.

In response to reports of John's disappearance, police resources have been mobilized. A police helicopter is actively involved in the search efforts around Harrietville, Bright, and Mount Hotham. Additionally, friends and family of John are actively participating in the search. The Police Air Wing has conducted a search around Mount Hotham and along the Great Alpine Road.

To aid in the search, authorities have released a description of John. He is described as Caucasian with a slim build and approximately 170 centimeters tall. John often walks with a hunched posture and uses a walking stick, making long-distance walks challenging for him. He was last seen wearing a checked shirt, a vest, and pants, and may have been donning a hat. His Toyota Land Cruiser is identifiable by its font nudge bar and two spotlights.
