Panama-flagged cargo incident: 2 liferafts, oil slick detected, 2 rescued; search op on after it sank off Odisha coast

Indian Navy aircraft detected two floating liferafts, an oil slick, and a distress alert from the Panama-flagged cargo ship MV Ocean Winner on Sunday. The ship, carrying iron ore from Odisha's Paradip Port to China, was about 300 nautical miles north-northwest of Diglipur. Two survivors were rescued by the MV AOSPOS after Indian Navy and Coast Guard collaborated on rescue efforts, including naval ships and maritime reconnaissance aircraft.

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) and Coast Guard regional headquarters in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands coordinated the operation.
