Osun calls for reconciliation, warns against post-election violence

The Osun State Government has issued a call for peace and reconciliation following the recent governorship election. State officials warned against any actions that could disrupt public order and urged political actors and residents to embrace unity and cooperation. The government expressed sympathy for the victims of pre-election violence and emphasized the need for a peaceful transition of power.

They are particularly concerned about reports suggesting that some stakeholders may attempt to reignite conflict across various parts of the state. Security agencies have been directed to maintain law and order, release political detainees, and address what the government describes as biased policing. The government also called on all political leaders to act peacefully and prioritize healing and development over further violence.

This comes as Governor Ademola Adeleke commended Bola Oyebamiji, the APC candidate, for advocating for peace after meeting with President Bola Tinubu. The Osun monarch praised the re-election of Adeleke, urging citizens to move past the election and focus on rebuilding their communities.
