'No Oil Will Leave Hormuz': Iran Warns Nations Joining US Economic Siege

Tehran, Aug 23: Iran's top security official Mohsen Rezaei has warned that any country joining the US economic siege against Iran will be deemed an enemy by Tehran. Rezaei, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, made the comments in an interview with state-run IRIB TV on Saturday. He stated that Iran would initially negotiate with such countries, asking them to refrain from involvement in the conflict.

However, he warned that if they refuse, Tehran would target their interests. In the event surrounding countries choose to join the US economic blockade, Iran would not permit any oil exports from the Strait of Hormuz. Rezaei emphasized that Iran has mastered bypassing US sanctions and continuing oil sales over the years. Rezaei also reiterated that the Hormuz Strait would remain closed unless the United States fulfills its commitments under the Iran-US peace memorandum of understanding signed in June.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that the US economic operation against Iran is bound to fail, similar to its previous coercive measures.
