No bail to woman accused in 2019 Pulwama attack

Insha Jan, one of the accused in the 2019 Pulwama attack, was denied bail by a special NIA court on Wednesday. The court found sufficient evidence to support the allegations against her. Presiding officer Prem Sagar rejected her plea for bail, citing ongoing trial, witness examination, and her health condition. The court emphasized that her ailments, while significant, were not life-threatening.

Jan was arrested in March 2020 and faces charges under UAPA, Ranbir Penal Code, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act. The court noted that her involvement in the conspiracy included providing support to Pakistani militants, Muhammad Umar Farooq and Mohd Kamran Ali, who were later neutralized. The defense argued that her six-year incarceration was unjustified, while the NIA insisted on her grave involvement in a serious offense.
