NCAA champion Michael La Sasso eyes first pro win at LIV Golf Indianapolis

Fifty-two hours later, The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield saw The Club at Chatham Hills host a second consecutive day of LIV Golf leaderboards. Rising star Michael La Sasso, 22, maintained his impressive performance, leading the pack with a single stroke advantage after a round. On Friday, La Sasso (HyFlyers Golf Club) broke his career-best 10-under 60, edging closer to the tournament lead.

Saturday’s third round saw La Sasso notch a 4-under 66, keeping him ahead of the four golfers tied for second. La Sasso, a North Carolina native, previously won the NCAA title with the University of Mississippi. La Sasso, who turned professional in January, is seeking his first victory in his professional career. La Sasso’s performance was fueled by his friendships with many of the young golfers in the field.

Laurie Canter, Majesticks Golf Club’s 53-year-old native, shared the top spot with La Sasso after Thursday’s first round, eventually dropping to 2-under. Canter, Richard Bland, Cameron Smith, and Thomas Detry are all looking for their first win of the season. The defending LIV team champion Legion XIII moved into first place at 34-under, while HyFlyers GC (33-under) and Ripper GC (31-under) remain in the hunt.
