Man City boss Maresca targets next Rodri after midfielder's exit

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has vowed to seek a replacement for midfielder Rodri, following the player's transfer to Barcelona. The 30-year-old Rodri, who has been with City for seven years, helped the club secure four Premier League titles, the Champions League and two FA Cups during his tenure. Maresca stated, "I'll try to find a new Rodri - it is what it is," during a press conference on Saturday.

He acknowledged that it would be challenging to replace Rodri but highlighted the club's history of successful player replacements, citing the arrivals of Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Fernandinho. Rodri, a 2024 Ballon d'Or winner and captain of Spain's European Championship-winning team, also played a crucial role in leading the national squad to World Cup glory and was named player of the tournament.

City are set to begin their Premier League season against Bournemouth and Maresca expects more transfer activity before the window closes, but remains relaxed about potential departures of other players.
