Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Pushes MoUs To Strengthen Support For Patients & Families At Major Hospitals

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed Maharashtra's government to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with charitable organizations aimed at bolstering support for patients and their families at major hospitals. Thousands of patients and their relatives seek medical care daily, frequently encountering challenges due to the high expense of healthcare, lodging, nourishment, and insufficient guidance.

The initiative seeks to unite government entities, charitable trusts, and volunteer organizations to establish a streamlined and transparent support network. According to the proposed agreements, aid supplied by charitable hospitals and volunteer organizations will be delivered to patients and their loved ones in a coordinated fashion. Hospitals operating under the Charity Commissioner presently offer free or discounted treatment to impoverished and needy patients.

Chief Minister Fadnavis' Medical Assistance Cell will be merged with this existing framework to enhance coordination and transparency. The initiative also intends to improve arrangements for affordable or complimentary accommodation and meals for patients' relatives, in addition to offering medical guidance and assistance near hospital premises. The government aims to alleviate the difficulties encountered by ordinary citizens in accessing healthcare and simplify administrative procedures through this collaboration.

Tripartite MoUs will be signed with charitable trusts to ensure that assistance reaches beneficiaries directly and without undue delays. Fadnavis has called upon charitable trusts, volunteer organizations, and other healthcare sector institutions to participate in the initiative and help broaden support services for patients and their families.

The government anticipates that this move will provide substantial relief to thousands of impoverished and needy patients and their relatives visiting major hospitals across the state.
