Maharashtra CET Cell Opens 5-Year LLB CAP Round II Seat Matrix, Sets Betterment Rules For Candidates

Mumbai, August 23, 2026: The Maharashtra CET Cell has unveiled the seat matrix for the second phase of the Integrated 5-Year LL.B. Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for the 2026-27 academic year, following the conclusion of the first round on August 22. They have also released crucial guidelines about the 'Betterment Option' to prevent candidates from losing their earlier allocations unintentionally.

Candidates who wish to apply or upgrade in Round II can do so by filling out their college option forms from August 23 to August 26. The seat allocations for CAP Round II will be announced by the CET Cell on August 28 at 5.00 pm, giving successful candidates a four-day window to report to their designated institutions and secure their seats between August 29 and September 1.

To clarify the process of upgrading allocations, the admission body released a detailed public notice outlining how changes in college preferences will affect previous allocations. According to the updated rules, candidates opting for betterment and rearranging their college preferences will automatically forfeit their Round I seat if they are assigned to a new college in the revised sequence.

Conversely, students who keep their original choice sequence will maintain their Round I allotment if higher-preference choices are unavailable. Candidates have the freedom to select any preference, irrespective of the initial vacancies displayed.

Beyond Round II, the CET Cell will open the option for filling preferences in CAP Round III between September 3 and September 5, with final seat allocations expected on September 18. The legal education admission process, encompassing institute-specific rounds for management and remaining vacant seats, will conclude on the strict deadline of October 5, 2026.
