Lesotho, China strengthen ties at bilateral cooperation dialogue

Lesotho and China concluded their third-quarter bilateral cooperation dialogue, emphasizing the strengthening of ties and cooperation between the two nations. The discussions addressed various aspects of bilateral relations, political trust, and China's One-China Principle. Ambassador Yang Xiaokun of China expressed optimism, stating that the focus of their talks was to be on four key areas: political mutual trust and high-level exchanges, the One-China principle and the Taiwan question, the follow-up to Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit, and outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, as well as multilateral cooperation.

China's system for zero-tariff exports has been successfully implemented, opening opportunities for Lesotho's less subtle products to enter the Chinese market without tariffs. Principal Secretary Thabang Lekhela of Lesotho's Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of these engagements in reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He emphasized the need to align political goodwill with coordinated implementation, sustained dialogue, and measurable outcomes that would transform the lives of the people in Lesotho and contribute to the development landscape of the country.
