Lebanon arrests food influencer Georges Dib over drug-laced treats

Lebanon apprehended food influencer Georges Dib, also known as "Doctor Food," on Sunday, according to a judicial source speaking anonymously to AFP. Dib, who boasts over eight million followers on TikTok, was taken into custody at his residence in Akkar governorate, where he faces additional drug trafficking charges. The influencer, who owns a confectionery business, was apprehended in connection with narcotics and other food products seized by Lebanese authorities in 2021.

These products, manufactured in factories owned by Dib, were intended for shipment to a Gulf nation. Despite his arrest warrant and previous conviction, Dib continued to share videos on TikTok, even denying the allegations in a recent post. His estranged wife, Canadian of Palestinian origin Shorouk, who owns an estimated 15 million TikTok followers, recently hosted a divorce celebration in Lebanon.
