KBO's top 2 teams set for weekend clash

In a critical weekend showdown, the two leading teams in the Korean baseball league are set to face off in a title-determining series. Currently, KT Wiz lead the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) standings with a record of 64-41-3, just one game ahead of their rivals, the Samsung Lions, who have 65-44-2. Both teams have claimed two consecutive victories.

The intense rivalry between these two powerhouses will escalate further as they square off in a three-game series beginning Friday at the Lions' home park, Daegu Samsung Lions Park, located in Daegu, a southeastern city in South Korea. The Wiz, however, have struggled against the Lions, posting a dismal 3-8-0 record throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Lions aim to solidify their position at the top of the standings before the crucial weekend clash. They kick off the new week with a three-game series against the last-place Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. On the other hand, KT Wiz will host fifth-place Doosan Bears in a three-game series at KT Wiz Park in Suwon, situated just south of Seoul, from Tuesday to Thursday.

With the top five teams securing postseason qualifications, the competition between the upper echelon teams intensifies, with a noticeable gap separating them from the rest of the league.
