Jharkhand protests: 3 FIRs filed against 28 named

Three FIRs have been filed against 28 named individuals and over 900 unnamed protesters in Jharkhand’s Giridih and Hazaribag districts following clashes between police and job aspirants, according to PTI. The incidents occurred amid protests against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations, with demonstrators gathering at Gandhi Maidan in Ranchi to burn an effigy of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

On Friday, clashes erupted between the protesters and police, leading to the filing of two FIRs in Giridih by the Town police station. The protests were organized by the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, a group accusing the state government of deceiving and betraying job aspirants regarding recruitment examinations and appointments. Leaders Kunal Pratap Singh, Piyush Kumar, and Ravindra Paswan were named in the Ranchi FIRs.

The protests escalated on Saturday when an additional FIR was registered in Hazaribag, alleging obstruction of government work and assault on police personnel. One of the Ranchi FIRs was filed by police against alleged miscreants obstructing government duty, while the other two were lodged by individuals.

The protests have been fueled by a legal dispute over recruitment examinations in the state. The Jharkhand High Court stayed notifications cancelling appointments of Child Development Project Officers and those recruited through the JSSC-CGL examination. Due to this legal dispute, police have now registered cases in multiple districts following the recent clashes.
