Jalgaon: ST Bus Carrying 59 Passengers Narrowly Escapes Gorge In Kannad Ghat; Four Injured

On Sunday morning in Kannad Ghat, located in Chalisgaon taluka, a major tragedy was narrowly avoided after an ST bus en route from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Surat came to a stop against a roadside safety barrier. The bus, which was carrying 59 passengers, reportedly experienced an abrupt issue with its steering system, causing the driver to lose control.

The vehicle began to veer towards the edge of the road until it was halted by the barrier, which prevented the tragic outcome of the bus plunging into the deep gorge below.

The incident caused widespread panic among the passengers, some of whom attempted to escape through the windows as the bus remained perilously close to the edge. Despite the chaos, all 59 passengers were eventually evacuated safely. Among them, four individuals suffered minor injuries and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.

Swiftly responding to the situation, police arrived at the scene following the dissemination of information about the incident. They initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident, focusing on whether the steering rod had broken or if the steering mechanism had malfunctioned, leading to the driver losing control of the bus.

The potential for a significant loss of life was averted, thanks to the protective presence of the roadside barrier, which played a crucial role in halting the bus and preventing it from falling into the gorge.
