‘Imran Khan is 73 years old…’: Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar among 21 former captains in renewed appeal to Pakistan government

Former international cricket captains, including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Dilip Vengsarkar, have signed a letter urging Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure Imran Khan receives proper medical care. This is the second appeal from the former captains in six months. The letter, originally penned in February, calls for a full and independent medical assessment of Khan's health, particularly the loss of vision in his right eye.

They also request the reinstatement of weekly family visits and the provision of recommended treatment without delay. Khan, who previously served as Pakistan's prime minister, has been in prison multiple times due to corruption convictions. The letter emphasizes the importance of adhering to the court's orders, stating that ensuring a court-ordered medical process is a basic decency that every nation should recognize as fair.
