High school cross country: Week 3 weekend recap

Week 3 Recap of Utah High School Cross Country Meets

This past weekend, the UHSAA sanctioned high school cross country meets across Utah took place. Brighton dominated the team races at Husky Run, sweeping both the boys and girls titles. Brighton's Avery Barton won the girls race with a time of 17:43.92, more than 36 seconds ahead of second place finisher Bridget Smit. In the boys race, Brighton's Whittaker Bettis led from start to finish in 15:53.43.

West Jordan and Ogden followed in second and third respectively. Cedar and Pine View claimed team titles at the Cedar City Invitational, held at a high elevation course. Cedar's Eliza Johnson won the girls race, followed by Hurricane's Arya Armstrong. Pine View's Jackson Mathews won the boys race, with Desert Hills placing second.

Riverton opened the 2026 cross country season with wins in both the boys and girls team races at the Park City Twilight meet. Riverton's Carson Stafford and Kurt Perry finished 1-2 in the boys race, while Olympus' Adria Favero took the girls individual title.
