HC questions UT administration’s appeal in teacher’s pay-parity case, asks DSE, Education Secretary to explain

The Penang Education Department has taken steps to protect a 12-year-old boy after a complaint was made that he was allegedly assaulted by a teacher at his school in the Northeast district. According to the department, the teacher is no longer having direct contact with the student and has been referred to the school's Guidance and Counselling teacher for necessary support.

The Northeast Penang District Education Office is conducting an investigation and will determine appropriate actions based on the findings. A consultation involving the boy's family, district education officials, school administrators, and the Parent-Teacher Association took place to discuss follow-up measures and the welfare of all parties involved.

The boy's family expressed concerns about the handling of the case, and the state education department remains open to further discussions. The safety, welfare, and well-being of pupils are the department's top priorities, and they are committed to maintaining a secure and conducive learning environment, in accordance with the regulations.

The teacher has been referred to the district education office's organizational counsellor for guidance and support, ensuring that any action taken is fair, appropriate, and in line with established procedures.
