‘Fundamentally dishonest’: Mark Ruffalo fires back at Paramount anti-Semitism claims

Actor Mark Ruffalo launched a scathing attack on media conglomerate Paramount over its accusations of antisemitic rhetoric against him. Ruffalo deemed the allegations, which stemmed from a post he made on Instagram highlighting Oracle's ties to Israel's actions in Gaza and the financing of his friend's Hollywood ambitions, "appalling and fundamentally dishonest."

He then redirected his anger towards the ongoing merger between Paramount and Warner Bros., deeming it a "serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families."

The tension between Ruffalo and Paramount escalated on Friday, when the studio responded to Ruffalo's criticism of Oracle executives by labeling his statements as "antisemitic tropes." Ruffalo rejected this, stating that criticizing the Israeli prime minister, military contracts, and their supporters is not the same as criticizing Jewish people.

He stressed that his views stemmed from his political convictions and should not be misconstrued as hostility towards Jewish individuals, for whom he holds deep love and respect. Ruffalo's stance was further reinforced by his Jewish friends, colleagues, and family who have been significant figures in his life.

Shifting focus to the Paramount/Warner Bros. merger, Ruffalo expressed his concern over the deal, which would result in one family gaining control over CNN, HBO, and Warner Bros., backed by foreign funds whose editorial influence remains unclear. He concluded his statement by urging regulators to scrutinize the merger's details more closely.
