FT Pas sets up 11 task forces for GE16

Federal Territories Pas (FT Pas) is setting up 11 specialized task forces to develop specific policies under its Wilayah Sejahtera vision ahead of the 16th general election. FT Pas Commissioner Azhar Yahya announced the task forces at the Federal Territories Pas Convention, stating they would be composed of experts, professionals, and technocrats relevant to their respective policy areas.

The convention, held prior to the Pas Muktamar in September, adopted 12 resolutions, with the twelfth resolution committing to establishing the task forces. The resolutions cover housing affordability, public transport, cost-of-living relief, creating job and entrepreneurship opportunities for local residents, digital transformation, flood control, green spaces, strengthening Islamic institutions and inter-religious harmony, education and skills training, improved healthcare access, and a comprehensive development plan for Labuan.

Azhar emphasized that the task forces would highlight Pas's technocratic capabilities, with technocrats, not solely religious scholars, developing the detailed policies. The convention aimed to internalize the Wilayah Sejahtera vision for all FT Pas divisions, with each tasked with bringing the discussions back to the grassroots level.

Deputy Commissioner II and head of the Federal Territories Pas Strategic Studies Institute, Dr Ahmad Nadzri Mansor, stated that the task force offerings were derived from proposals submitted by representatives from 15 divisions and councils, supplemented by feedback gathered from an 80,000-engagement social media survey. All issues raised by the public were already considered in the resolutions drafted by the task forces.
