Explore new BS programmes available across top IITs

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have significantly expanded their undergraduate offerings to include Bachelor of Science (BS) programmes in specialized fields. While engineering degrees remain popular, BS programmes in areas like data science, chemistry, mathematics, physics and aerospace technology are gaining traction among students.

IIT Madras introduced its first four-year BS in Data Science and Applications in 2021, followed by a range of other BS programmes across disciplines. IIT Madras currently hosts four non-campus BS programmes, allowing students to gain industry-oriented skills through distance learning. The BS in Data Science and Applications program is particularly popular, with over 36,000 students enrolled.

IITs also offer BS courses in Electronic Systems, Aeronautics and Space Technology, and Management and Data Science, catering to students' diverse interests in these specialized fields.
