ESPN fantasy analyst says Titans QB Cam Ward is a viable fantasy option

ESPN fantasy analyst Eric Moody has expressed his opinion on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Ward, stating that he believes Ward is a viable fantasy option. Although Ward struggled as a rookie, Moody points out that he showed improvement after Tennessee's Week 10 bye, throwing 10 touchdowns for just one interception. Over his final four full starts, Ward averaged 15.5 fantasy points and ranked eighth in pass attempts, despite taking a league-high 55 sacks.

Moody attributes Ward's improvement to the upgrades on the Tennessee Titans, including the hiring of Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator, additions to the offensive line, signing Wan Dale Robinson, and drafting Carnell Tate fourth overall. These changes have created a more favorable situation for Ward, especially at the wide receiver position. Last season, Cam Ward's top receiver was Elic Ayomanor, but now he has Calvin Ridley, Robinson, and Tate, all ahead of Ayomanor on the unofficial depth chart.

While a breakout year seems like a stretch for Ward, the improvements on the offensive line should help minimize sacks. However, it's important to note that Ward has always struggled in college to make things happen and get sacked, a problem that resurfaced in the NFL. This is one of the reasons Ward took until mid-December to go one game without getting sacked.

As the season progressed, his numbers improved, suggesting better performance in the upcoming season. Nonetheless, ESPN fantasy analyst Eric Moody advises that Ward is not a consideration in standard fantasy leagues and should not be drafted too high in superflex leagues, as he would only be a QB3 in those leagues.
