Dubai Police seizes 497 vehicles over unpaid fines and expired registrations

Dubai Police has seized 497 vehicles due to unpaid fines and expired registrations, urging motorists to regularly check their traffic records and settle outstanding fines. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, warned that failing to do so could result in vehicle impoundment and legal action.

Nearly 500 vehicles were seized during campaigns in the first half of the year, with some having fines worth tens of thousands of dirhams and others with registrations not renewed for years. Driving an unregistered vehicle is especially risky as it may not have undergone the required safety inspections, posing a threat to the driver and other road users.

Traffic fines serve to discourage dangerous driving, prevent repeat offences, and enhance road safety. The police continue inspection campaigns targeting vehicles with violations and expired registrations, contacting owners through phone, text, and email to remind them of their responsibilities. Vehicle owners are urged to keep their contact details updated with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority to avoid missing important notifications about fines and registration.

Payment options include the Dubai Police smart app, website, self-service kiosks, and Smart Police Stations, as well as instalment plans through Tabby and authorised partners.
