Ceuta tension explodes as off-duty Guardia Civil officer attacked by migrants

In the early hours of Sunday morning, an off-duty Guardia Civil officer in Ceuta was violently attacked by a group of at least five migrants. The incident occurred near Avenida Cañonero Dato and the Carranza petrol station when the officer refused to hand over money. Despite the assault, the officer provided crucial information that aided investigators in identifying the alleged perpetrators.

Three migrants were later apprehended and taken into custody after a police search operation. Each suspect displayed distinct behavior during the confrontation, with one pushing and threatening the officer, another striking him in the face and head, and the third kicking him and issuing threats. All three suspects are under investigation for attempted robbery with violence, intimidation, and serious disobedience of authority.

The timing of the arrests coincides with the city's ongoing struggle to manage the aftermath of a mass influx of migrants from Morocco, which has strained local resources and raised concerns over security and accommodation.
