Blade Tidwell records seven strikeouts for Giants at Fenway Park

San Francisco Giants pitcher Blade Tidwell recorded seven strikeouts in Game 2 of a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. Tidwell, a former Vanderbilt baseball player, started the game and pitched 5.2 innings, facing 21 batters and striking out all seven. He threw a total of 93 pitches, with 57 of them being strikes.

The Red Sox managed to get four groundouts and four flyouts during Tidwell's pitching. Tidwell left the game in the sixth inning with two outs. The Giants won the game. Tidwell previously played for the Vols from 2021 to 2022, starting 27 games and recording 141 strikeouts with a 3.53 ERA, leading all Tennessee pitchers as a freshman in 2021.

He was drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2022 MLB draft (No. 52 overall) and was traded to the San Francisco Giants on July 30, 2025, in a deal that also included former Vanderbilt player Drew Gilbert.
