Bhuleshwar Cha Raja Tragedy: Witnesses Recall Moments Of Panic As Ganesh Idol Collapsed On Devotees, Leaving 2 Dead, 5 Injured

Mumbai witnesses describe terrifying moments of a Ganesh idol accident at Bhuleshwar Cha Raja procession, which left two people dead and five injured. The massive idol fell during the late Saturday night arrival procession near Kabutarkhana at Jay Ambe Chowk on Balaram Merchant Road. A local resident reported that the idol toppled abruptly around 9:50 pm, with devotees rushing to rescue those trapped underneath within minutes.

The incident occurred as the idol arrived from Thakurdwar, and loud drums and music were being played. A nearby resident claimed potholes may have hindered the idol's movement. Two young men, Sanket Nevshe, 33, and Brijesh Hemant Joshi, 30, were declared dead at Reliance Hospital and GT Hospital, respectively. Five others, including two children aged five and seven, were injured and admitted to GT and JJ hospitals.

The witness described the incident as happening within seconds, with devotees caught off guard while dancing and singing during the procession.
