Bandits abduct monarch, others in Kwara community

In the Igbesi community of Isin Local Government Area, Kwara South Senatorial District, a monarch and numerous residents have been taken hostage by armed bandits. The attack occurred on a Saturday night. While security agencies have not yet confirmed the incident, Engineer Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, has shown his deep sorrow for the people of Igbesi community.

Agaka criticized the state government for its inability to curb the surge in banditry in Kwara South Senatorial District. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and the entire community, vowing to stand by them during this challenging time.

However, Agaka also turned his attention to the state government's inadequate response to the security crisis. He accused the administration of showing no respect for the lives of rural dwellers and failing to keep its promises regarding security during election campaigns. He demanded that the government prioritize the safety of the state and stop making empty promises, instead delivering concrete actions to rescue the abducted individuals and end the criminal activities terrorizing communities.

Agaka emphasized the urgent need for the government to adopt a more robust approach to security, including the establishment of strong intelligence networks, better collaboration with local vigilantes, and sufficient funding for security agencies in the affected areas.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate reminded the administration that the people of Kwara State are closely watching and waiting for decisive action. He warned that failure to take immediate measures would not only result in more loss of life but also undermine any remaining trust between the government and its citizens.
