Ajit Doval to visit China on August 24 for talks with Wang Yi
The talks come ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s anticipated visit to India for the BRICS Summit in September.
On August 24, 2026, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is scheduled to travel to Beijing to engage in the 25th round of discussions with Chinese Special Representatives on the boundary dispute. This visit precedes a potential meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in India the following month. The talks with Wang Yi, a member of the Chinese Politburo and Foreign Minister, aim to review the overall bilateral relationship.
The timing of Doval's trip, occurring just weeks before India's turn to host the BRICS Summit on September 12, suggests that both nations are preparing for Xi's first visit to India in seven years, potentially including a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
