Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja expressed his disapproval of India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal's physical confrontation with Sri Lankan pacer Asitha Fernando during the second Test match in Colombo. Jaiswal was dismissed for 45 runs off 53 balls and, after the dismissal, he engaged in a heated exchange with Fernando, resulting in their helmets colliding.

The exchange escalated, leading to a physical altercation and Jaiswal walking off the field in anger. Jadeja emphasized that while banter is common in cricket, players must maintain composure and refrain from physical contact. He suggested that Jaiswal should have responded to Fernando's banter verbally rather than resorting to physical contact.

Jadeja's comments were echoed by India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, who also deemed the incident concerning and stressed the importance of avoiding physical contact in such situations. Disciplinary action may be considered by match referee Andy Pycroft under the ICC Code of Conduct. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his Test debut in 2023, has quickly established himself as a key player for India with his aggressive batting style.
