3 dead, 21 injured as pickup vehicle crashes into pole in Karnataka: Police

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday morning in Karnataka's Yadgir district, near Mandal village, resulting in the deaths of three women and 21 injuries. The incident took place when a pickup vehicle carrying laborers returned to their homes after working in agricultural fields. The laborers, who were engaged in removing weeds from cotton crops, were on their way back to Mandal village when the accident occurred at around 9:30am near Madnal.

The pickup vehicle, traveling at high speed, lost control and violently crashed into an electric pole on the roadside. Three individuals, identified as Soubagya (25), Honna Ningavva (18), and Satyavva (35), lost their lives at the scene. Twenty-one others sustained injuries, with 14 being transferred to Gulbarga for further treatment and seven receiving care at Shahapur Hospital.

An 11-year-old boy among the injured sustained a severe head injury and is in critical condition. The deceased were residents of nearby areas who relied on daily wage labor for their livelihoods. The police registered a case at the Bhimarayanagudi police station, initiating an investigation under section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
