Zelenskyy, Kellogg discuss creation of Ukrainian anti-ballistic missile system

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prioritized ballistic missile defense in talks with Gen. Keith Kellogg, a former U.S. special representative. The meeting took place in Kyiv following Kellogg's visit from Odesa to attend a Veterans Forum. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Kellogg for his concern over Ukrainian service members, who face daily challenges under difficult conditions.

The president highlighted that Russia's escalating attacks on infrastructure and civilians have made ballistic missile defense the top defense priority. Zelenskyy shared details of Ukraine's collaboration with European partners in developing its own ballistic missile defense system. He also emphasized the critical need for supplies of interceptor missiles to support Patriot systems throughout the upcoming winter.

The president mentioned that Ukraine is prepared to purchase these missiles, and any efforts in this direction are significant. During his visit, Kellogg toured the Odesa Sea Port and assessed the damage from Russian strikes. In August, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine had reached agreements with the United States for monthly deliveries of Patriot system missiles, but current stockpiles are inadequate.

Ukraine is now engaging with European partners, including Poland, Germany, and Scandinavian nations, to secure additional interceptor missile supplies.
