Zelenskyy, German FM discuss strengthening air defence, winter preparations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Kyiv, discussing various matters of mutual concern. A key topic was the need to bolster Ukraine's air defense capabilities as Russia seeks to exploit the challenging winter season to cause maximum hardship to the Ukrainian people. Zelenskyy praised Germany's leadership in this area, acknowledging the country's efforts to provide substantial assistance despite the numerous obstacles it faces.

Another important focus of the meeting was safeguarding Ukraine's transportation routes, particularly those used by the country's agricultural sector, which have been severely impacted by Russian attacks. The two leaders also explored the progress of the Drone Deal agreement, with the goal of signing the document in the near future. They delved into the specifics of supporting Ukraine's European integration, and Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Germany for all the significant steps taken in this direction.

The agenda also included preparations for the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Kyiv and diplomatic efforts, with Zelenskyy sharing updates on his interactions with U.S. President Donald Trump's representatives. He also extended his thanks to Wadephul for his recent visit to Ukraine, during which he attended the 9th International Veterans Forum, and for the extensive support Germany has provided during these crucial and historic times for the nation.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of Germany's continued backing, calling them the country's greatest allies in Europe. He expressed his deep appreciation to Germany and its people for their tremendous support, emphasizing the strong friendship between their nations.
