Determining the ideal day to book flights for the most affordable fares has long been a mystery for many travelers. Travel expenses comprise a substantial portion of overall travel costs, and fluctuating prices fuel the quest for the best deals. To shed light on this topic, Skyscanner, a travel price comparison platform, recently unveiled the Skyscanner Smart Travel Awards for Korea's tourism sector, with value for money being one of the award criteria.

The inaugural winners of these awards were Jeju Air for the best value on short-haul flights, Korean Air for the most favorable booking experience among airlines, and Hana Tour for the best booking experience among online travel agencies.

Jessica Min, a travel expert at Skyscanner, addressed the question of whether any commonly suggested strategies for finding cheaper flights are actually effective. She clarified that several widely-shared tips have no substantial impact on search results or prices. Using incognito mode, for instance, does not influence the prices displayed during a search.

Similarly, searching on Tuesdays or at 3 a.m. does not produce any discernible difference in airfare costs. Skyscanner further explained that search day and time do not substantially affect the prices, as airlines and booking platforms adjust their rates dynamically based on various factors such as demand, time of year, and specific routes.

Consequently, travelers are advised to focus on finding the best deals through thorough research, flexibility with travel dates, and utilizing reliable travel search platforms rather than relying on specific timing strategies.
