Was Revanth supposed to meet Mamdani? His office says tentative, opposition seeks answers

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's visit to the United States was tentatively planned to include a meeting with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, according to a tentative itinerary. However, the Chief Minister's Office confirmed that no official communication was exchanged between the Mayor and the Chief Minister's office, stating that the meeting was tentative.

The Ministry of External Affairs denied Reddy's US visit clearance, citing that the proposed program was not appropriate for his office and purpose of the visit. This led to a controversy in Telangana, with the Bharat Rashtra Samiti questioning the cancellation of the Chief Minister's US visit, while BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri and others raised questions about any business Reddy may have had with Mamdani.

Reddy's itinerary also included meetings with the Indian community, visits to Harvard University, MIT, Northeastern University, and Virginia Tech, with the aim of bringing world-class educational institutions to Hyderabad as part of the Centre's new education policy.
