Vande Mataram debate won’t get us anywhere: Telangana Congress chief

Yesterday's Independence Day event in Telangana saw the singing of the entirety of "Vande Mataram," a move that has raised questions among party members. The Congress, which governs Telangana along with Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, has a policy of only singing the first two stanzas of the song at party events. However, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) has reiterated this stance, leading to some unease within the party.

In response to the issue, the state Congress president, B Mahesh Kumar Goud, spoke to The Indian Express, emphasizing that while the party has its position on "Vande Mataram," it cannot force the elected government to adopt a particular stance. Goud stated that the party's current focus is on addressing the needs of the common man, rather than getting caught up in disputes over the national song.
