This 50yo woman pulls a 10-tonne truck and lifts 24,000kg in an hour

Sherrie Williams, a 50-year-old woman from Tullamore in Central West NSW, is renowned for her extraordinary strength. Her community knows her as the woman who can effortlessly pull a 10-tonne truck, turning a routine roadside assistance job into a display of raw power.

Williams' path to becoming a super strong woman began a decade ago when she decided to step out of her desk job for the gym. Initially a marathon runner, she added weightlifting and Olympic lifting to her routine, which eventually led her to the world of strongman.

Strongman, a competitive sport that involves lifting and carrying unusual objects over long distances, is not your typical weightlifting competition. Williams finds it challenging, empowering, and endlessly varied, with events that prevent boredom.

After losing the use of one arm in a car accident, Williams discovered one-arm deadlifting, a variant of strongman. She attempted the Guinness World Record for the most weight lifted in an hour by a one-arm deadlift, setting a new record with 23,950kg, surpassing the previous record of 20,000kg by 3,950kg.

A few years ago, Williams moved to Tullamore and became a gym trainer. She decided to join the local show committee, introducing the strongman sport to the town's events. This move led to the "human pull" becoming a highlight of this year's event, with many young and inexperienced participants eager to try their hand at this seemingly impossible feat. Williams encourages anyone to give it a try, as they might surprise themselves and open new doors.
