Teen charged over stabbing in beachside suburb

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with stabbing a critically injured teenager in a beachside suburb of Terrigal, NSW. The victim, who was out with friends, was stabbed in the left side, causing heavy bleeding. He was found by a random homeowner on Painters Lane and taken to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition. The incident occurred shortly before 9.45pm on Friday.

Police are investigating two groups of teenagers who reportedly met up in the Terrigal area and went to Painters Lane. The 15-year-old who was stabbed was with two friends and later met up with another group of up to five people. Detective Chief Inspector John Zdrilic stated that youth knife possession is not acceptable and they have been conducting operations to remove knives from the streets.

The arrested boy was charged on Saturday and refused bail to appear in a children's court the following day.
