KUANTAN, Aug 22 — A tragic accident claimed the lives of a teacher and her six-year-old son in Rompin yesterday. The multipurpose vehicle (MPV) carrying the family skidded and plunged into a ravine near KM149.9 of Jalan Kuantan-Seremban. Rompin police chief Supt Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi reported that the accident occurred around 9.30 pm and left the driver with head injuries, while the wife and son, both sustaining head injuries, died at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the family was traveling from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, towards Felda Keratong in Rompin. The MPV reportedly struck a piece of wood on the road, causing the driver to lose control and skid before falling into the ravine on the right side of the road. The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
