Report:Bills' Ed Oliver suffers tragic personal loss

Bills quarterback Josh Allen expressed his sadness and anger over the premature disclosure of the passing of Ed Oliver's young son. Allen, who is a teammate of Oliver, stated that the manner in which the news emerged was particularly upsetting. "How it came out makes me very, very sad and angry at the same time," Allen told reporters following a preseason game in Cleveland.

Despite the unfortunate nature of the tragedy, Allen emphasized that the team's primary focus was to support Oliver during this difficult time. "What we’ve been doing is giving him his space and time, but at the same time being around him, loving up on him," Allen said. "But not trying to do anything to reopen that." Allen acknowledged that the team members were well aware of the situation, as they often do when someone close to a teammate is affected by such a loss.

"It’s very hard to wrap your mind around a teammate going through a situation like that," Allen added. "Because you have kids, you understand what that could be like and what that could feel like. You never want to put yourself in that situation or those shoes." While the decision to share such sensitive information early was made by someone outside of the Bills organization, most agreed that discretion was warranted given the gravity of the circumstances.

Allen reflected on the emotional impact of such a tragedy, saying, "He’s a strong man." He also noted that the responsibility of handling such news falls on each individual journalist or content creator to determine the appropriate course of action. For the majority, waiting until the family and team were ready to share the news was the appropriate decision.

However, some chose to disregard this approach, leading to heightened scrutiny and criticism for their choices.
