‘Reject tribalism, political division’ – Gov Kefas urges Taraba residents

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has called on residents to uphold unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, regardless of their religious, ethnic or political backgrounds. At a summit organized by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Muslim Religious Matters, Hussaini Ismail, a diverse group of Islamic organizations, religious leaders, scholars and community stakeholders gathered to discuss peace, unity, good governance and sustainable development in the state.

The governor strongly condemned any attempts to segregate the state along religious or ethnic lines, emphasizing that Taraba is home to all its citizens. He reiterated his administration's dedication to good governance, enhanced welfare and citizen-centric development, urging residents to support projects aimed at fostering a peaceful and united Taraba.

Attendees of the summit hailed the administration's efforts in education, peacebuilding and improving citizens' welfare. Speaking at the event, Ismail encouraged Tarabans to shun tribalism, political division and any other sentiments that could hinder peace and peaceful coexistence. The governor's support for Islamic education and religious institutions was praised by Ismail, stating that these initiatives have contributed to educational progress throughout the state.

In addition to the governor's appeal, traditional leaders, Islamic scholars and other participants advocated for closer collaboration among government bodies, religious institutions and traditional authorities to promote peace, unity and sustainable development in the region.
