Qatar secures first place globally in "Myth Smashers" scientific competition in Thailand

Qatar has claimed the top spot globally in the high school division of the scientific competition "Myth Smashers," organized in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Austria. The theme of the competition was "Busting Myths in Nuclear Science." Representing Qatar were students Fatima Al-Badr, Zainab Omar, and Sirine Amr from Um Hakeem Secondary School for Girls.

Their success is a testament to the hard work of supervisors from the Science and Computer Technology departments at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as the teachers from the Chemistry and Information Technology departments at the school. The competition's results were revealed on August 19, 2026, during a meeting of Science and Technology Project Coordinators with the IAEA in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

This achievement highlights Qatar's students' capacity to apply scientific knowledge to real-world challenges, enhancing the country's standing on the international scientific stage. It underscores the Ministry's dedication to supporting top-performing students and fostering a stimulating educational environment that cultivates scientific inquiry and innovation.
