Portuguese soccer player Quévin Castro, 25, has tragically died after collapsing during a friendly match for fourth-division team Real Sport Clube. The incident occurred earlier on Saturday during a preseason match against Estrela de Amadora at the Estádio das Seixas stadium in Malveira. Castro's death was announced by both the Lisbon Football Association and his club, emphasizing his significant impact on those who knew him both on and off the pitch.

Real Sport Clube's official statement described him as more than just a player, and West Bromwich Albion, his former club in England, expressed their devastation at the "untimely passing," announcing a moment of silence in the 25th minute of their upcoming game against Burnley, with players wearing black armbands to honor Castro.

Castro joined West Bromwich Albion as a teenager in 2021, making his first-team debut in a Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal and later having loan spells at Burton, Notts County, and Gateshead before departing the club in 2023. After leaving Albion, he played for various clubs in the UK before returning to his native Portugal.
