Police show aftermath of Kryvyi Rih mall strike and second attack

On August 21, Russian forces launched a second attack on the Soniachna Halereia mall in Kryvyi Rih, while rescue operations were still underway, according to Patrol Police chief Oleksii Biloshytskyi. Patrol officers responded to the scene, providing assistance to the injured and evacuating people, with footage from their body cameras capturing the moments.

One officer can be heard comforting an injured woman, reassuring her that help is on the way. The footage also shows another Russian drone heading towards the same location. Patrol Police head Oleksii Biloshytskyi expressed condolences to the families of those killed and emphasized the efforts of law enforcement officers to be present wherever help was needed.

Russian forces struck the largest shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih with strike drones, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Friday, August 21. Zelenskyy called the attack an act of Russian terror and stressed the importance of strengthening protection for civilians. As of the morning of August 22, the death toll stood at 16, with 130 others injured, including 25 children.

Another nine people, including two children, were reported missing. Sixty-three individuals remained hospitalized, 29 of them in serious condition, while search-and-rescue operations were still ongoing.
